rayzinside asked: I want to build a 10×20 wood carport. Basically a roof on 4×4 posts. I wasn’t wanting to drill into the concrete. I was wanting to know if there is a way to attach the 4×4 posts to the concrete without drilling into the concrete driveway. If that is not possible what is the best way to attach the 4×4 posts?

terryc84 asked: I live outside of Chicago, not going to put anything too heavy on it, nothing bigger then a grill, etc. How thick to make it, should I reinforce/rebar/mesh, AND should I just do it myself? (thinking about 12 by 12 foot?) Any clue how much it would cost? Thanks!

ch asked: Two years ago I installed a new concrete driveway. Living in a freeze/thaw area of the country, I used gravel for drainage and installed 4 inch fiber reinforced concrete. Now I am seeing hairline cracks across the width of the driveway. At first I thought it was curing cracks. However, since the cracks are becoming wider, I attribute this to settlement. Any suggestions on how to fix, repair, or mitigate the cracking before it becomes worse and unsightly?

teddi asked: My house is less than a year old. When we had a huge amount of ice and snow we used rock salt on our driveway. Unfortunately, it ate holes in the concrete! We later found out that this should never be done unless the driveway is over a year old. So, now there are quarter sized pock marks all over our driveway. What is the best way to repair it without forking over tons of cash to a contractor for repairs? Would quickcrete do the job?

racalmichael asked: I’m being told that if I power wash my patio in cold weather it will cause it to *****. Does anyone know if there’s any truth to this? It seems to me it won’t make a difference but it never hurts to ask.

Mikayla J asked: A house I might but has a water drainage problem. The back of the garage has a concrete patio that is 1 foot below the lawn level. There are sidewalk type chunks of concrete up against the garage which are causing the problem the rest is an entire piece which is level. The concrete is about 1″ below the siding for the garage. Near the corner of the garage there is a gutter that needs to be redirected but isn’t a big problem. Can I do something or should I have a professional do this?

happee asked: A contractor put down a dark gray epoxy on our outside concrete patio in various spots to cover up some texture (it was poured on the hottest, most humid day of the year) after it was sanded down. We’re concerned that the Rustoleum concrete stain (sandstone, which I believe is not an actual acid stain but a water-based stain) we planned to put down won’t actually cover the gray or make the whole thing look uniform. The mix is 2-3 different colors and will cover our other color variations, but we’re a little worried…
Any experience with this or advice???
